Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder. When a person suffers from this disorder, they eat large amounts of food at one time and then burn it out by vomiting, excessive exercising or using medicines in large quantities. Prevention of this disease, especially among teenagers is not very easy. It takes a lot of time which requires strenuous processes with a lot of persistence, treatment, relapse issues and slow recovery progress. a lot of determination is needed for a person who is suffering from Bulimia to come out of it. There are ways to come out of this disorder which is listed below that requires the person who suffers from this disorder to get cured and emerge healthy and fresh. Bulimia patients have this constant insecurity about their body shape. Their obsession drives them to do this to get their desired body shape.
- First and foremost they should start loving their body. Appreciate what you have been endowed with. Since they develop signs of extreme lethargy it is important to make their body remember all the simple things they are capable of doing.
- Secondly, learn to satiate your body needs and not your guilt. When your body needs food, do not over indulge in food and eat a lot at one time, instead eat in proper quantities whenever you body wants nourishment. Also make it a point to eat whole meals and not junk meals like pizzas and burgers. Eat right combinations of vegetables, fruits, and lentils along with a lot of water to ensure you stay in top form, healthy and keep you thinking positively all the time. You can also indulge in some junkies like milk shakes, bacon etc. but it is important to find the right balance. Have your favorite food along with wholesome foods to keep your body healthy which keeps you guilt free and happy instead.
- Thirdly, exercise is important to keep your body and mind fit and healthy. Exercising not only keeps your body fit but also helps to build and maintain confidence and self respect. Do any physical activity that keeps your mind and body active; be it a sport, like swimming, cycling, and gymnastics or even walking your dog. Indulge in an activity that will keep you healthy.
- Fourth way to prevent bulimia is to be a part of a community that can guide you and aid you to feel loved and cared for and boosts your confidence and provides you with a secure environment. They also give you insights of living life without being obsessed with your body. Meet more people and you will realize that your friends like you for what you are and not your looks. Socializing and living with people who make you feel wanted boosts your self esteem.
- The fifth way is to get proper guidance from a professional or a person who specializes in weight loss. If you want really want to lose weight or change your looks this is a safe bet with a healthy approach. There are registered dietitians who are professionals in their field and help people get the right diet to help them lose weight in the right manner. They know what your body needs while helping to shed all the extra flab.
- Last but not the least; have a realistic approach to life. You should realize that the perfect bodies that celebrities have is a result of a lot of exercising or even cosmetic surgeries. They are normal beings with normal bodies but their work demands them to be in good shape all the time. Aping these people is not the right thing to do as you should be happy by you look, just the way you are without any cosmetic surgery or other strenuous exercises regimes. You will be surprised to know that people will want to be like you when you start loving yourself.
